A few months ago, I received a used Josefina doll from my aunt. Unfortunately, she smokes, so the doll smells like smoke. I was able to wash the clothes so that they smelled better, but I was unsure what to do with the doll because I didn't want to ruin her. I carefully washed Josefina's hair with Johnson's baby soap so that it smells better, but the cloth body, limbs, and head still smell after trying a few things. First, I let the doll air in the garage. Then I put her in an air tight container with baking soda for a couple of weeks. Finally, I tried to use Febreze, on the cloth body, but I found that it just made the doll smell like Febreze and smoke, in addition to slightly staining the body. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove the smell without ruining the doll?
Everyone, please give a warm welcome to Josefina Montoya, the newest member of the doll family! I got her today at the AG Place in Chicago! Josefina holds a special place in my heart because we are both Mexican, and she makes me proud of my culture, even though my grandma cooks Mexican food like for every meal, lol. I'm very happy to finally have her in my collection! Have a lovely evening! ~Phoebe
