Melody's movie has been nominated for two awards in the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Awards 2017! The awards are about positive representation of people of color, and I think that Melody is a positive role model- even for white kids like me. Unrelated to Melody, but Melody's actress, Marsai Martin, also got nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (not for Melody) and Outstanding Performance by a Youth (not for Melody)!
