Ever wondered why American Girl switched to zip ties instead of neck strings in 2016? When @simply_sapphire on Instagram asked American Girl to give her Z neck strings and they denied it, they explained why they switched to zip ties. She kindly let me share the letter she got back. Here is it:

"As we expand American Girl’s distribution beyond the United States, we are required to comply with additional toy testing requirements. This new head attachment method, where the head is attached with a plastic tie and sewn inside the doll body, will ensure we are meeting testing requirements in global markets."

This is good information to know, even though I don't really care how the head is attached unlike most.
