Dolls are lucky. They don't have to view, or even worse, eat, the gross lunches the American school system provides. They get cute lunchboxes, and this post will be all about them and the food they take to school!
Josefina's Picnic Lunch came out in 1997 and retired in 2007. Josefina's lunch included tortillas, squash, onions, cheese and a plum.

Kirsten's Pioneer School Lunch came out in 1986 and retired in 2007. Kirsten's lunch included bread, a sausage, an apple and cheese.

Addy's Lunch Pail came out in 2014 and is still available. Addy's lunch includes a meat pie, grapes and cookies.

Samantha's Tea Tin Lunchbox released in 1986 and retired in 2008. Samantha's lunch includes a sandwich, egg and cookie.

Rebecca's School Set came with her lunch- a bagel sandwich, pickles and Rugelach, a popular Jewish dessert. It released in 2009 and retired in 2015.

Kit's School Lunch was released in 2000 and retired in 2017. Her lunch included a sandwich, a serving of fruits and vegetables and a cookie.

Nanea's School Lunch was released in 2017. Her lunch includes a sushi roll, 2 sandwiches and a slice of pineapple.

Molly's School Lunch was released in 1986, modified in 2000 and retired in 2013. Her lunch includes a sandwich, pear, cookie and a carrot. The original release had her lunch in a paper bag instead of a metal lunchbox, which was marketed as a hand-me-down from her sister Jill due to the metal shortage during World War II.

Julie's School Lunchbox was released in 2007 and retired in 2018. Her lunch includes a sandwich, chips and a cupcake.

What lunch is the most like your normal lunch? For me I'd say Molly, minus the cookie.

That's a neat piece of history! Kirsten's Pioneer School Lunch sounds simple by today's standards, but it reflects the practical meals many children would have eaten during that era. It's interesting to compare it with modern food options like the Cook Out menu, where customers can choose from burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, BBQ, and milkshakes. While Kirsten's lunch focused on basic necessities, Cook Out offers a much wider variety of choices for different tastes. https://cookoutmenu.net
Hello,
This is such a fun way to explore history through everyday food. Seeing how school lunches changed across different American Girl eras really highlights shifts in culture, ingredients, and eating habits. It reminds me of browsing menu archives at https://starbucksmenu.us/, where you can also see how food and drink preferences evolve over time.
