American Girl just trademarked 'World By Us' in dolls, doll clothing, and accessories. Do you think this could be the new contemporary doll line set to release in fall 2021's name?
Honestly....I don't want any more contemporary dolls. I want more blk goty or historical. Around the world dolls are so easy to come by. I still have their Girls Of Many Lands collection (which was excellent). I want diversity to be shown in the country I live in. This feels like a cope out so they can avoid the pressure of making POC in GOTY or historical collections. I've been wanting a Harlem Renaissance doll and a Native American doll for the longest.
@dandeliondollz I agree with you 100% I hate that they are doing all of these things in the name of "Diversity." They need to focus on the historical dolls, and bringing back high quality items. That can be done best when the company diversifies its design staff and leadership. Change comes from within. They can reflect any number of religions, cultures and ethnicities from a historical perspective. The only folks native to this country are Indigenous. If we recall, Kirsten emigrated from Sweden. I totally agree that the only modern dolls should be the Truly Me and GOTY. I say this as a person of color---- No more tokenism!
Thank you! I 100% agree. The contemporary lines don't sell as well. This has been proven. So it is not a good idea to try to create some whole new line just for poc when most people are not going to buy from that. I'd rather have a blk historical character from the 1990s or the Harlem Renaissance. This contemporary line is a waste of line. I say this as a blk person myself.
YAY
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
