Some people have probably forgotten this or have just not brought this up. Remember, back in March, American Girl had an investor meeting. During the meeting, it is mentioned there is "a big announcement" later this year. Some people online have theorized that this big announcement revolves around the historical characters having their original meets back (which a lot of people believe so). However, I am beginning to think that perhaps the big announcment was referring to the collector dolls with the FAO Scharwz and the Disney Princesses, and next month's collector doll(s) (which will probably be revealed later at the end of the month).
But I still believe that all the historicals who were available under the Beforever brand will revert back to the original meet outfits. When Kit was un-cubed, her green Beforever meet was sold out. I think her original meet outfit is here to stay. When Molly was re-released last year, she came with her her original meet outfit rather than her Beforever Costco one. When they introduced Nicki and Isabel on Good Morning America, Samantha and Kit, but not Rebecca and Julie, were in their original meet outfits. In American Girl shorts, most of the historicals before the Beforever revamp were depicted in their original meets. Maybe this is a sign they are bringing the original meet outfits back. There are some people online who still believe this is going to happen.
I really like Samantha's Beforever outfit, but it is not historically accurate. I have to rank Kit and Julie's beforever meets the least. I heard someone say Addy's Beforever dress looked like something that wealthier girls in the 1860's would've worn, but not someone Addy's background. This dress would have been worn for someone like Addy's rival-turned-friend Harriet Davis.I honestly don't little girls during Julie's time would have worn something like her Beforever outfit. I really love bright colors, but while the Beforever meets were more colorful and vibrant, the original meet outfits were more enjoyable for us older American Girl fans.
