“if you so much as TRY to hurt her again, you’ll pay.” Aiden, Joslyn, and the Shadows retreated, with mutters of “We’ll return!” and “We’re coming for you, Cassia Tailor.”
Whoever it was that saved me released their grip. “I’m...I’m...” he vanished.
That night, I crept back into my dorm. “I told you not to sneak out.” Elle was awake! And she’d seen me. My mind flashed back to when, before we’d gone to bed, Elle had told me not to sneak out. “I’m-I’m sorry, Elle. I, uh, couldn’t sleep,” I half-lied. “THERE SHE IS!” I recognized the sudden cry as Aiden. Realizing that my sneak out had put me, Elle, and the school in danger, I shoved Elle off the bed. “ELLE! JUMP OUT THE WINDOW!” I shrieked. Glass shattered. War cries were made. Escapes were attempted. But it was no use. The shadows out-numbered us. I watched in horror as someone darted in front of me. I somehow remembered him to be the boy from earlier. “CASSIA!” I turned my head around, nearly snapping my neck. A tall, dark haired girl had Elle by the arm. “ELLE!” I screamed, kicking the girl in the shin. No use. She used her other hand to grab my arm. I noticed her release Elle at the last moment before a sack was shoved over my head.
I awoke in what seemed like a dorm room. My wrists were tied behind me, and my arms and legs were bound to a metal chair. I called out, or tried to. Duct tape was over my mouth, restraining my speech. I could overhear;
“Yeah, Joslyn’s about to go finish,” Aiden. “She is?” I recognized that voice as the tall girl who’d captured me. More on that, blah blah BLAH blah...
A tall, tanned boy, the...wait...one who’d saved me the first time, and tried last time. “I’m supposed to take her to the dungeon,” he reported. Was he not on my side? “K, thanks, Jason.” Aiden, again. Next thing I new, I was unbound, being carried by “Jason”. At the edge of a cliff, just as the sun was setting, we sat. Our legs dangled over the rim as he introduced himself. “Josh Adams, spy for the FAO.” “FAO? What’s that?” I asked. “Five Academies Organization. The five academies, Sierra Cove, Shadow Creek, Rose Harbor, Breeze Islands, and O’Dell Academy, are all banded together, but Shadow Creek sorta went rogue.” He explained. “So now, a spy from each school goes around, searching for the Heir, or Heiress in your case, to the mother school of them all, Sierra Cove.” “M-m-my school.” I stuttered. “At all costs, nothing can happen to you.” He said. The sunset illuminated the sky with pink and orange. We’d barely met, but it already felt like we’d known each other forever. He didn’t even state that he knew my name! I leaned in, whispered, “Thank you.” And he put his hand on top of mine. “You’re welcome.”
do you like 3rd person or 1st person better? Do you sense anything between Cassia and Josh? Who should narrate the next part; Cassia, Josh, Elle, or someone else?
