Evelyn Grace Johnson - She's a homeschooler who loves volunteering at her local cat shelter - until her mom finds out she's allergic. With no one to take her to the shelter, Evie decides to find a way to get herself back in. She tries signatures - but she's too shy to ask for them. She tries asking VERY politely - rules, rules, rules. Finally, she has an idea. Volunteer Day every Saturday where ages 6+ can come and volunteer for a few hours - including her! The shelter agrees - they're short on volunteers and the cats keep sneezing on the walls. Because of her great idea, the shelter lets Evie come to volunteer even though she's too young to volunteer by herself.
