So, my mom was just showing a clip from Dance Moms for her class (she's a remedial writing teacher at a college) and I just thought of something. Could Isabelle have been inspired by Dance Moms? If you think about it-Isabelle is almost like McKenzee and Jade is like Maddie. I think this because although I don't watch Dance Moms that much, I know that Maddie is a really good dancer and Jade is too. And my mom thinks (when she watches DM) that McKenzee feels stuck in her sister's shadow and that is exactly how Isabelle feels in her books. It's kind of a random thought, but it just kind of clicked in my mind how that could work.
