I know it's a bit early, but my mom went ahead and let me open a Christmas present. I thought I knew what it was, but it turns out she managed to surprise me. It's a doll I've been wanting ever since she came out two years ago. She is the Mary Ingals doll from the company The Queen's Treasures. I know this may look like any other doll, in fact, we had talked about just buying a similar looking doll and the outfit she's wearing and call her Mary. Now, I'm not sure how many of you know about The Little House on the Prairie books, but Mary was the author, Laura Ingals Wilder's sister. She lost her sight when she was fourteen do to what was thought to be scarlet fever, but it is now known that it was really an inflammatory brain disease called Viral Meningoencephalitis, or Brain Fever, as it was called back then that attacked her brain, inflaming her optic nerves in her eyes, taking her sight. I know the company probably just created her to expand their Little House line, but it's really more meaningful to me at least, to have a doll who represents someone who was blind.

SO cool!
I absolutely love the little house books! I have the really old ones from like the 1950’s and I’ve read them more than 20 time total.
She so beautiful!

*thinks for two seconds*
nope, we don't have it. Add it to the list next to diversity, glasses, naturally curly hair, and girls in wheelchairs
