This morning, I watched Ivy and Julie 1976: A Happy Balance, An American Girl Story. Here's my review of the movie:

What I LOVED: I loved both Ivy and Julie. Their actresses portrayed them so well! Missy was cute, too. I also loved the storyline- it was very close to the book Good Luck, Ivy!

What I liked: It seemed like they actually filmed in Chinatown- there was so much detail! Also, Amazon and American Girl put even more detail, like wired phones, calendars with 1976 on them and Missy watching Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood on a black-and-white television. I also liked the scenes with Mrs. Ling and Mr. Ling discussing Ivy, it helped the viewer see more background in Ivy's life.

What was OK: It was not realistic when (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Ivy's whole family made the titular "Happy Balance" by showing up for the gymnastics meet. The solution in the Good Luck, Ivy book was more realistic.

What I didn't like: IT WAS TOO SHORT! Why only 42 minutes! WHY?????

What I strongly disliked: Nothing!

OVERALL GRADE: 9.5 out of 10 stars, A! Amazon did an amazing job like usual. I hope after Z's movie, there's more Amazon specials!

COMMENT DISCUSSION QUESTION: Favorite Best Friend doll?

MY ANSWER: Emily. She is special to me because I got her as a Sorry You Got Diabetes present a week after I was diagnosed with diabetes.

I love the review. I agree that the movie seemed too short. Did you notice how when her parents tell her she can chose whether to go to the meet or the dinner, how they say to make the best decison for the family, they were bascilly telling her to chose the dinner. #parentsforcing.😒
