Without. Just a simple word, with so much significance.
Without lots of things, we couldn't have others. Without our parents, we wouldn't exist. Without rain, the grass wouldn't be green. Without Pleasant Rowland, there'd be no American Girl.
Today, I'll tell you about a Without that shapes this blog, and me overall. But, I'm telling you this because I found out today that the vaquitas are saved. I needed a new charity to donate the profits for the customs to, and then I came up with a great idea.
If you've been following this blog for a long time, you would know that I have Asperger's syndrome, a type of autism. But instead of it being a mild inconvenience like it is today, it affected me a lot when I was first diagnosed. It was a lot worse. I had to go to a special preschool to help me with it, DDI.
They helped me so much. I went from a autistic toddler who was severely affected to a mostly-in-control almost-teenager who has this amazing blog and made a movie about the disease that affected her so much as a toddler.
Without DDI, this blog wouldn't be a reality.
DDI is mostly parent funded and does not get much funding from the government. It is an amazing school and helps young children with autism grow to their potential. But because of the lack of funding, DDI hasn't been able to grow to it's full potential.
Which is why, I decided to donate the proceeds from the "Vaquita Customs", plus all of my blog proceeds in April to DDI.
AMERICAN GIRL TRIVIA: American Girl got petitioned in 2013 to make a GOTY with a disability. Four years later, it was a reality!
