Review: American Girl- Real Stories from My Time- The Titanic

Updated: Nov 4, 2020

*I have gotten a product from Scholastic in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and not of Scholastic or American Girl*

American Girl, in their new Scholastic partnership, is releasing a new series of books: Real Stories from My Time. These educational books teach about a part of history, while sharing true stories and an American Girl's story. This book was about the Titanic and told a gripping story about Samantha, now 16, waiting to find out if her best friend Nellie and her Aunt Cornelia survived the sinking of the Titanic.

The educational parts were very interesting and taught me more about the Titanic in the time it took me to read than the three-week learning period about the Titanic in seventh grade language arts! It was interesting getting to know more about the Titanic and finding out the true stories of some children and teens who were truly on the Titanic.

It was pretty cool that the authors decided to visit Samantha when she was much older than the core series and mysteries portray her. You can feel what Samantha is feeling as she awaits news about her loved ones on the Titanic. It depicts her stress well, and also recounts Samantha's time on the Queen Caroline back when she was younger. This ties in well to the main story because it shows how different her time on first class was to some passengers on the Titanic who were in third class.

Overall, this was a amazing book! I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
