Luciana Vega, the Girl of the Year from 2018, had her first book take place at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama - and the doll is still on display at the museum in the Huntsville Rocket Center, six years after her year and three years after her retirement!

I just realized that starting in the late 2010’s and early 2020’s some of the American Girl characters particularly the Girl of the Year line has names borrowed from the Barbie movies.
Luciana for instance shares her name with a Princess from Barbie as the Island Princess.
There is sister named Blair in Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses and the main protoganist in Barbie Princess Charm School is also called Blair.
Also in 12 Dancing Princesses Genevieve had another sister called Courtney which was the name of the Barbie character in Rock n Royals.
Summer McKinny also shares her name with one of Barbie’s best friends.

I think the photo above is from a previous year and appears to be inside a gift store. I love how blue Luciana’s doll box is. Luciana’s topic is not repetitive and is new. She deals with astronomy🪐 🔭 even though we did have Lanie as a science girl. She is the second after Isabelle Palmer and before Corinne and Summer McKinny to have colored hair.
