The first name of the American Girl Historical collection was "The American Girls Collection"... and American Girl retrademarked that exact name on June 9.
Between this and Claudie's book being called "Meet Claudie", do you believe American Girl is returning to a classic approach for the historical girls? I hope so!
I would be so happy if this ends up being the case. Maybe AG will release the doll's short story collections. I'm glad we got to download Addy's, but I would love to read the others, especially Kaya's. I would also love it if they started bring back retired items/making the collections like they did in the past. I really want Kaya's first addition Jingle and Fancy Shawl Outfits, as well as the rest of her retired items.
Hey Sydney, just to let you know I went to the AG website and saw that Joss is officially retired.
But for some reason, her accessories are still available.
Yes! Finally, AG is reconnecting to their historical roots. Maybe they found out that actually taking your customer’s advice helps. A lot. This is still so, so, so exciting!
I hope so! The original set up was better. The six book format allowed us to explore the characters a lot more and really emersed ourselves in the time period. We were robbed of seeing what Christmas was like in the 80s, summers, birthdays, etc. Courtney's story felt less educational and more superficial as a result. I even felt Nanea's books could have explored these things more, too.
It could just be a revised brand name for the new "collectors" dolls (like the Harry Potter dolls) they are coming out with, though. I hear they are releasing two types. I'm hoping it's the former, though. I don't want collectors dolls, I want more historical focus.
Sounds like AG is taking this in the right direction. I believe with the 35th Anniversary dolls they saw how much fans loved this release, and they sold extremely well. We are living in very nostalgic times. Take a look around with movies, shows, music, etc. All taking the nostalgic route because sometimes you don’t need to “fix” what’s not broken. With the release of more beloved characters, not only are little girls buying them but adults too who have cherished the whole line since they were little girls. Who doesn’t love a good comeback?
