Anyone have any idea why she's never been retired, for almost 20 years? Others, like Addy, Josefina, and Kaya, haven't been retired for longer periods of time, but they're from minority groups and have stories that play a bigger part in America's history (in my opinion). Don't get me wrong, I like Julie, so much that I have read all of her books twice, but she's a long-haired, brown-eyed blonde from the 70s. Again--nothing against blondes, long hair, or brown eyes! And the 70s can be so groovy. But what's so amazing about her, if she's from only 50 years ago--30 years ago when she was released? And a lot were exasperated that she was considered historical?
