Girl of the Year 2025 Journal Release Date + Author

Girl of the Year 2025 Summer McKinny's journal has been spotted on Amazon with a release date of September 17, 2024. The author is Clare Hutton, who wrote the Like Sisters series for American Girl.

I did some research, and there is another Clare Hutton who is a specialist in Irish literature, meaning Summer will most likely be Irish-American. Additionally, Clare is white, meaning the chance of Summer being African-American has effectively gone out the window, as AG usually has authors that share the racial identities of their characters.

That is cool that American Girl is having an Irish American Girl Doll. Is next year's Girl of the Year doll going to be released early with her book?

Irish better be red hair long awaited! although logically more Scottish have red hair than anywhere in the world, still! my family is super Irish, and half of them do have red hair but with blue eyes instead of green lol but either way would be cute.

So excited for an Irish- American girl of the year! I’ve always wanted a Irish-American girl of the year.

I'm fine with her being scottish or black. I agree there should be another proper black goty, but a redhead could also be very unique. And it probably means they'll use the samantha face mold, and it has been 11 years, I believe, since that was used! I can't wait to see photos! I'm so happy she's coming out around my birthday!!!

Samantha has the classic face mold which American Girl still uses for a lot of their dolls. The most recent new dolls to release with this mold were Truly Me 126 and Truly Me 129 (although 129 was just a rebranded 88).

I wish for once black characters could get stories about animals. They always seem to give the nature stories to white characters. I absolutely LOVE animals and plants. Instead, we only get stories about music or dance. I'm disappointed, but I'm not surprised.

I agree but I don't think it's fair for Irish representation as a popular whole we don't have any red hair characters currently for sale on the website NOT even historical not really, to me MaryEllen's hair is too blonde. but definitely should be soemthing done next.
