Girl of the Year 2025 Rumor - Descendant of Samantha?

I just heard a rumor on the American Girl Reddit page that a user went to the American Girl store in LA, and an employee told her there is a rumor going around that the Girl of the Year 2025, rumored to be named Summer McKinny, is a descendant of Samantha Parkington, one of the original 3 American Girl dolls. This is the first I'm hearing of this rumor, but I figured I'd share it here just in case it turns out to be true!

Samantha's dog, Jip, probably sparked the love for pets in Summer. I wish Summer's last name was Ryland!
I think it would be weird because Samantha is way too old to be alive now, so they would have to have established a death for her and I think it would be really odd for girls to read a story confirming one of the American Girls as dead.
this is interesting but i'm having a hard time believing it. it IS just a rumor after all. we know from experience that GOTY rumors are proven wrong more often than they are proven right. i'm just curious how Sam would even fit into Summer's story if she's supposed to have an animal theme. as far as i'm aware, Sam's stories never focused that heavily on any sort of animal type thing so i'm not sure how she would be incorporated in if this is true. if she is a descendant of Sam's, she may not even be directly from her bloodline. She could be a decendant of Nellie's, or one of the Pitt twins, or the baby brother...
