The Girl of the Year 2026 novel has been listed for a release date of November 4, 2025. The author is Angela Cervantes, who wrote Maritza's book, and the illustrator is Faáima Anaya.
This makes it pretty clear her name will be Raquel Reyes - stay tuned for updates!

I can’t believe there is already a listing for Racquel. This is truly amazing. Come to think of it, the annual Mattel investor meeting is coming in less than two months now that January is coming to a close. And we might finally see Raquel’s interests.
Raquel’s novel is written by the same one who wrote Maritza’s book. It looks like Raquel could be into soccer. Or remember when the Fun in the Southwest released and we all thought she would be from the Southwest and into plants and flowers.
But I fear Raquel Reyes’s stories may be repetitive given how Summer’s stories were written and how Raquel’s stories are written by Maritza’s author. Raquel’s meet outfit could be green…
