How Long Have Girls of the Year Post-2017 Been Available?

Ever since American Girl changed the length of time Girl of the Year dolls are available in 2017, there hasn't been a set time when dolls retire: they just have sold out when their stock runs out. I figured with Kavi's recent sell-out, I'd scour the AGDN archives (since the blog has been active since 2014, before the change was made) to find the exact dates Girls of the Year have sold out, and how long they were available for!

  • Gabriela McBride - December 31, 2018 (1 year and 364 days)

  • Luciana Vega - September 13, 2021 (3 years and 255 days)

  • Blaire Wilson - December 19, 2021 (2 years and 354 days)

  • Joss Kendrick - June 16, 2022 (2 years and 167 days)

  • Kira Bailey - February 27, 2023 (2 years and 58 days)

  • Corinne Tan - Still available after 2 years and 329 days (and counting)

  • Kavi Sharma - November 24, 2024 (1 year and 330 days)

Shouldn't Lea Clark be on this list?

Lea was only available for year all way until New Year’s Eve 2016. She was the last Girl of the Year to do so.

I suspect the fact that the museum benefit sales stopped happening played into how long the Girls of the Year are available for sale directly from American Girl. They no longer save the “extra” dolls for the benefit sale, therefore making them available for sale longer from AG. The AG Outlet Store also closed although it likely had less reach than the benefit sales.
