With Makena about to retire once her stock sells out and Truly Me 123 being gone for good, the Makena mold is now officially retired. This is the third American Girl mold to retire, after the #4 mold, which retired in 2011 after 16 years, and the Marie-Grace mold, which retired in 2014 after 3 years, but came back in 2022.
The Makena mold was introduced in September 2021, which means this mold had a little under 4 years before retirement. Do you think it will eventually come back?

Yes, I do believe that sometime in the future, the Makena face mold will come back. I think maybe they will use it for a future girl of the year doll, which in my opinion would be really cute. After all, they used the Marie Grace mold for Kavi, who was the Girl of the Year for 2023. If they used the Makena face mold for another girl of the year, that would be really adorable, especially for an African American doll.
