American Girl just trademarked two names, Nicki Cohen and Isabel Cohen. These girls seem to be another pair of sisters, like Corinne and Gwynn.
Corinne and Gwynn were also trademarked this time last year, but it has been previously speculated that Kavika Sharma would be the Girl of the Year 2023. What do you think- are Isabel and Nicki Cohen the next Girls of the Year or is Kavika the GOTY and Isabel and Nicki are something else?
Anyone else think that Nicki is going to be the little sister? It would make sense, in my opinion since there is already an "18 Nicki doll. Other theories I have is that Nicki and Isabel are either going to be World By Us dolls or Historicals since there are already Girl of the Years with those names. I think Historicals is more likely. Kavika is most likely Girl of the Year 2023.
I hope that these are Latino Jewish twin sisters. maybe historical
I would be disappointed if Kavika was not the GOTY. This is a great opportunity to introduce a South Asian into American Girl. Don't get me wrong, World By Us is ok, but it doesn't have the same effect as GOTY. I can already see that World By Us is going to be used as the "POC" line so they don't have to actually add diversity to the bigger, more popular GOTY line. I don't like that at all.
I hope they are twin historical dolls from the 1990s at least. I remember asking for this back in the day. My disappointment would be that they are more white dolls overshadowing any new ideas for POC.
I get that their target audience won't have been old enough to remember a lot of the past girl of the years, but come on. Isabelle was GOTY 2014, so people at the edge of the target age range or slightly above will remember her. We also already had Nicki Fleming, so these two characters that are going to be released alongside one another both have reused names? Although, Isabel is the spanish version of Isabelle, so it is pronounced differently. (think of Isabela from Encanto without the a) There's just no reuse names/pick really similar names, there are so many other lovely names to choose from. I hope they're not GOTYs because then if I'm referring to "the GOTY…
