2 Years Feels Like A Lifetime.

Today is my 2nd diaversary. On this day 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It's a big deal for diabetics. Even the reason I asked Dad to take me to the Benefit Sale was because it was on the weekend of my diaversary!

(Card to self. Unless your diaversary is July 22.)

After exactly 10 years and 6 months not diagnosed, July 22, 2015 changed everything for me. It started out as a normal day. I took a blood test the day before for a checkup, but one phone call changed everything. I was playing with my dolls with my sister. She was Grace and I was Marisol. Little did I know that day would go in the history books. I ran downstairs, ready to go to acting class. But I saw my mom on the phone, so I just got my shoes on. When she hung up, I asked, "Can I go to acting now?" She said no. "We have to take you to the ER. Your blood sugar is way above normal."

After getting another blood test, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was moved from the ER to the hospital, and we had to learn what to do to keep my blood sugar in control and watch 5 boring videos about diabetes. I was really scared, but I tried to calm down.

After I exited that hospital, life became a roller coaster of blood sugar checks, pod changes, insulin doses, and checking my Dexcom. But my dolls helped out so much, and so did you!

Thank you.
