American Girl has partnered with Random House Children's Books to adapt several historical character's stories into children's books for readers younger than the age range for the standard American Girl chapter books.

The first two books are centered around holidays and are Little Golden Books for readers ages 2-5.

'Happy Birthday' is written by Rebecca Mallary in her writing debut and illustrated by an anonymous illustrator. The book will release on August 10.

"Addy(TM), Josefina(TM), Kirsten(TM), Molly(TM), and Samantha(TM) star in a Little Golden Book for the first time ever--just in time to celebrate 35 years of American Girl!

Celebrate the birthday of American Girl with this first Little Golden Book featuring Samantha, Molly, Kirsten, Josefina, Addy, and other beloved characters. 'Happy Holidays' has no cover yet. The author and illustrator are anonymous. The book will release on September 7.

"This Little Golden Book stars Molly, Josefina, Nanea, Felicity, and other favorite American Girl characters as they celebrate the holidays!

Traditions may change over the years, but one thing never changes: everyone loves celebrating the holiday season! The last three books are Step into Reading Level 3 books meant for readers 5-8 and are adaptations of classic Historical Character stories.

The first one is titled 'Freedom for Addy'. It is written by Tonya Leslie, who has written kid-sized biographies of people like Barack Obama and Rosa Parks in the past, and illustrated by Tanisha Cherislin, a first-time illustrator. It will release on August 24.

The last one is titled 'Molly's Christmas Surprise'. It is written by Lauren Clauss, who writes tie-in books to children's media, and illustrated by Melissa Manwill, who illustrated the 'A Girl Named' series for American Girl and Scholastic. It will release on September 7.

"This Step 3 Step into Reading leveled reader is all about American Girl Molly(TM) and her Christmas on the home front during World War II in 1944--with more than 30 stickers included!

What do you think about these books? I most likely won't be getting them, but I find it interesting that American Girl is reaching out to their younger fanbase who are too young to read the chapter books that come with the dolls on their own.
