On the TODAY Show this morning, American Girl announced the release of their latest historical character doll, Courtney Moore from 1986. Courtney is a video game fan who lives with a blended family, including a mom running for mayor, and spends her time playing Pac-Man at the mall and looking up to the astronauts from the Challenger space shuttle. She dreams of creating her own female superhero game.
Courtney's collection will feature a mini Caboodle, Lip Smackers lip gloss, Care Bear pajamas and a Pac Man arcade game.
According to the Go-Go's, an all-female 80's band who worked with AG for Courtney's release, Courtney's era represents "seeing women in politics and tech more getting the results of the hard work of the feminist pioneers."
To pay tribute to Courtney's love of gaming and creating her own game, American Girl donated $5,000 to Girls who Code and are offering donations on their site until December 31.
Courtney and her accessories, a 13-piece '80s mix-and-match fashion collection, are available online starting on September 15, and in American Girl stories on September 25.
