How Old Are The AG Sisters?

Over the weekend, American Girl took to social media to reveal that the AG Sisters are in fourth grade, like the 18 inch American Girl dolls. It seems like they are the same age - but are a different size, similar to how Gwynn was also 14.5 inches despite only being one year younger than the youngest American Girl dol.

to me they resemble 6-8 year old chelsea vibes lol especially while the 18 inch dolls are 10-12yr olds, I'm going to imagine ours as such.

I honestly don't understand why Mattel needed another alternative line, when people would just get My Life or Our Generaiton if they really wanted to save money. that said I'm looking forward to see their activity book anyway and I got two for my girls and I think the tents are super cute for siblings to play with. all in good fun.

I think American Girl is trying to copy My Scene. Each of the AG Sisters have a aesethetic to each of the four original four My Scene characters.

  1. Barbie - Jozette

  2. Chelsea - Lea

  3. Madison - Wesley

  4. Nolee - Francie

Mattel owns both, so I think you're right.

I saw someone say that they didn't mind the AG Sisters being the same age as the 18-inch dolls because it provides a cheaper alternative to that age group, which I thought was a really good take! Maybe AG is also assuming that kids will pick older ages for their Truly Me dolls, so AG Sisters could legitimately be younger sisters for 18-inch dolls at age 9 or 10? When I was in AG's target range, I kept my dolls closer to 10, but now that I'm older, I set their ages at 13-16. So I'm curious what y'all imagine your dolls' ages as!

good concept! I also think even as adults we imagine they're mini adult dolls at times. my kids and I weren't into them for their target age for me it came later and my daughter lost interest by then lol sadly. I hope to get my other daughter interested longer.
