Even though she sold American Girl to Mattel over two decades ago, Pleasant Rowland, the founder of American Girl, is still one of America's richest self-made women.
According to the site Forbes, Pleasant Rowland is #84 on a list of America's Self Made Women based on net worth. Pleasant Rowland has a net worth of $355 million. For comparison, the top woman on the list is Diane Hendricks, who made her $11 billion in the roofing industry.
To me, it's interesting that Pleasant is still on the list, despite her stepping down from American Girl in 2000. So that, and the fact was it was a slow news day, made me post this.
Pleasant Rowland did a wonderful thing starting The Pleasant Company of Historical Girls.

Did anyone else notice the coffee shop in the Dolled up back to school trailer video?! (You can see it at 0:31). I wonder if it's a new set for one of the World By Us Contemporary Doll's or if it's for Truly Me (You can see on the sign at the top of the shop it says American Girl Local Bean). Either way I'm so excited for the new Dolls and new Truly Me items!! I really hope Courtney gets some new items too!
