The Girl of the Year 2025, Summer McKinny, has officially been revealed!

Good morning, everyone! Happy New Year - I mean, Girl of the Year release day which happens to be in September! I have gotten word from AG that Summer’s reveal will be at 8:45 AM Eastern time, but I’m going to turn my TV on at 8:30 just to be safe. Today’s going to be awesome! I can’t wait!

This just in - American Girl just officially revealed Summer as the Girl of the Year 2025 name!

I stopped in the American Girl store today and guess what I saw? The Girl of the Year section being ripped apart to make room for Summer to come out in just 2 days! Here’s what it looks like: Plus, I had to get one last selfie with Lila before her “year” ends :) It was so cool seeing the Girl of the Year section under construction! I always love going to the American Girl store just days before the new Girl of the Year comes out for moments like this, and I’m so glad I was able to capture the pictures of how it looks now! Alright… next time I go to AG, it will be SUMMER DAY!!!

Summer comes out in 2 days: and I have obtained a new rumor about one of her outfits! So, in American Girl's marketing for Summer, they have been using a cupcake logo in a lot of the promos: I have heard that Summer is rumored to have a sweater with the same cupcake on it for her collection! Two more days! Who's excited?

The Doll of the Month for September 2024 is Lindsey Bergman! Lindsey Bergman is from the Chicago area in 2001, who lives with her parents, her brother Ethan and her dog Mr Tiny. Her story revolves around how she just wants to help people out, but most of her attempts - such as getting two unknowingly married teachers to propose to each other, disrupting her school's Pet Parade, and trying to help her brother with his Bar Mitzvah - end in disaster. However, through the visit of her uncle Bernie and dealing with the consequences of her actions, Lindsey learns that there's more than one way to make a difference. Lindsey was the first Girl of the Year, first modern character ever, and first Jewish American Girl doll, and she was released in September 2001 and retired in mid-2002. Another fun fact: Summer McKinny is the first Girl of the Year to release in September since Lindsey!

Hey all! Just wanted to tell you all that my hope to get better from my concussion before Summer's release has come true - I'm feeling mostly better now! It still will take a few days before I can go back to writing my novel, but I'm all good to blog! During my short break, AG announced that Girl of the Year 2025, Summer McKinny, will release on Thursday, September 12, so I figured I'd share my game plan for how I'm going to cover her release, because this is the first GOTY release where I have school the same day. The reveal will happen around 7:30 Nashville time, so like usual, I'll watch that before starting to post all the information I can find online about Summer. After that, I have class from 11 am Nashville time to 1:50 pm Nashville time, so I'll go to American Girl Nashville after that to pick up Summer, her pink jacket outfit, and her journal! I'll post in-person pictures after that, and then to finish the day, I'll read her journal and post her story and a review! I can't wait for Thursday!

The worst thing that could have happened just days before the new Girl of the Year comes out happened yesterday - I hit my head on the laundry machines at my dorm and got a concussion. Thankfully, it’s only a mild concussion and I should be all healed up by Monday, but if there’s any Summer updates before then, don’t count on me posting them… I’m so sorry - I hope I feel better by the time she comes out, though!
