Includes an illustrated paperback book, My Journal by Lila Monetti. The set costs $115. Lila's Gymnastics Equipment costs $115 and comes with an uneven bar set, a chalking station and a beam. Lila's accessories come with a fanny pack, cellphone, sunglasses, hair ties, hair gems and a hairstyling guide. They cost $30. Lila's Honeycrisp Hill Horse Stable comes with a grooming stall with a horse enclosure, a feeding bin, a bucket, tote bin, grooming it, spray bottle, shampoo, brush, pretend hoof polish, pretend carrots, riding helmet, towel, blanket, saddle holder, saddle blanket and stickers. American Girl unveiled Lila Monetti, a competitive gymnast and horseback rider, as its 2024 Girl of the Year this morning. Lila, 10, is a child of America's heartland, growing up in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. "We know our fans will flip for our newest Girl of the Year, Lila Monetti, who arrives just in time for the holidays," said Jamie Cygielman, general manager of American Girl. Lila, a competitive gymnast, is focused on taking on many new challenges like moving up to a competitive gymnastics team while balancing friendships and exploring new hobbies. On a visit to a riding camp, Lila, an avid horseback rider, meets a four-legged friend, a Palomino horse named Hollyhock. Lila and Hollyhock work together to develop Lila's gym skills, and help Hollyhock find her place at the stable. "As with all our beloved characters, Lila will inspire kids to face new challenges with purpose and positivity and find the joy and strength that comes from unexpected friendships," Cygielman said. American Girl teamed up with best-selling author Erin Falligant to tell Lila's story in an illustrated journal that comes with the doll and a separate full-length novel, "Lila Goes for Gold," which hits shelves in January. In celebration of the announcement, American Girl will donate $25,000 worth of Girl of the Year books to Save the Children's U.S. literacy program, according to a release from the company. Lila has amber eyes and caramel-colored hair fashioned in two half ponytails. She will come with a wardrobe including a glittery pink tank and track pants, colorful sandals, bracelets and hairbands. American Girl is also releasing Hollyhock the horse as part of Lila's product world, with a detailed saddle and bridle and numerous accessories to style her extra-long mane.

Whenever a new Girl of the Year (or doll in general) releases, it's my sacred duty to go to Instagram and ask AG an important question - when is her birthday? American Girl just responded to me and told me Lila's birthday is May 6, 2014. This means she is the first American Girl doll to be born after American Girl Doll News was created!

One of my favorite "new American Girl doll" traditions is scouring the American Girl shop pages to find little tidbits and fun facts about the new doll! Here's all the fun facts I found about Lila, starting with this about me page on her collection page: Lila's full name is Lila Maria Monetti. She's 10, from St. Paul, Minnesota, her favorite food is pancakes, her best friend is named Katie, her best animal friend is Hollyhock, she loves to trick-or-treat, her go-to hairdo is French braids with sparkle gems and her mantra is "born to ride and ready to fly!". Hollyhock is nervous in her new environment and hasn’t been accepted yet by the other horses. Lila spends extra time grooming Hollyhock, styling her beautiful long mane and braiding her tail to match her own hairdo. Lila is determined to be the first camper to ride Hollyhock and hopes to show off her skills on Parents Day. Lila’s coach McKenna encourages her to go to horse camp because riding is good cross-training for gymnastics. Lila has to learn new skills in order to compete on the Xcel Gold Team. Coach McKenna helps her practice a roundoff back handspring, a cartwheel on the beam, and a jump from the low bar to the high bar. McKenna is Lila's former babysitter. Mighty Mae is the friendly corgi at Honeycrisp Hill Horse Camp. Lila and Mighty Mae team up to help train the new horse Hollyhock when she becomes spooked by another dog. Lila knows rest is important—especially when she goes to horse camp during the day and gymnastics in the evening. She winds down in these PJs, counting horses instead of sheep to help her fall asleep.

It also comes with a medal. Lila's horse has white fur and comes with a hairstyling kit. Lila's horseback riding outfit has a sparkly jeanjacket, horse t-shirt, pink headband, black pants and pink riding boots. Only four more days, AG fans! We can do this!

Dang.... this is the tenth Girl of the Year release day celebrated on AGDN! I can't believe this blog is going to be a whole decade old in January... Anyway, HAPPY GIRL OF THE YEAR RELEASE DAY! I cannot wait to see Lila and her collection and post all about it today! I also can't wait for a special someone to come to my doorstep whenever UPS arrives today... let's just say AG sent me a little gift.... The AG website is counting down to 8:55 AM Eastern time, so Lila's reveal will probably be around 8:30 AM, like usual. Don't worry, everyone who will be at school or work during the reveal - I'm going to screen record it and post it on YouTube since I made sure to do all of my work for college this week in just two days so I could have the rest of the week free to blog, especially today! I'm so excited that I might just sit here and ramble on this post until 8:30 AM, but I think I'll just channel that energy into my script writing until the time comes! Hope you all have a great day!

When Corinne came out, I discovered that her meet outfit looked just like a outfit I had in my closet, so I put it on when I went to the store to pick her up! I then ended up getting a sweater for Christmas last year that reminded me of Kavi, so I wore that to the store to pick her up, and now that Lila comes out tomorrow, I had to dig through my closet to find an outfit that resembled her rumored meet outfit - and I FOUND ONE!!! This is a pink tank top that I got a few summers ago for a trip to Orlando, with my only remotely-pink colored shorts. Even though Lila doesn't have shorts in her meet outfit, I had to get some because Charlotte's currently in the middle of a heat wave - it's going to be 80 tomorrow! I'm so excited for tomorrow!

With one day left to go until Lila Monetti's release, a few rumors about her story are starting to go about! Here's the rumored scoop that I know: Lila's corgi's name is Mighty Mae and her horse's name is Hollyhock. Lila goes to horse camp in her story and meets Hollyhock there. Lila joins a competitive gymnastics team for the first time as well and struggles with her confidence. One more day.... we can do this...
